About the Cambridge House

___

History

The Cambridge House Bed and Breakfast was built in 1916 and was the home of the local doctor and his family. 'Doc' Whiteman and his wife Carrie were prominent citizens in the community and are fondly remembered by the locals who love to tell amusing anecdotes about their experiences with the good doctor, or their relationships with Carrie and the children. After the passing of her husband, Carrie lived in the house for many years until she moved to the Council.

The beautiful old craftsman-style house was purchased in the mid-1980s by Mr. & Mrs. Jack Huff but left unoccupied for many years.

In December of 2008, the house again changed hands. David and Sheila Marchbanks, lifelong residents of rural Canyon County near Notus Idaho, saw the great potential in the house as a bed & breakfast. After a little over a year of renovation, the house is ready to welcome overnight guests into its charming early 1900s atmosphere.

From its wide inviting front porch to its five bedrooms and 37 windows, the house was built by expert craftsmen to be enjoyed and appreciated for many years. The original hardwood floors still grace the entire house, as does the original brick fireplace and built-in china cabinet. The three bedrooms upstairs all boast private ensuite bathrooms, which were converted from walk-in closets. The two bedrooms downstairs have king beds and share a common bath which has a beautiful claw-foot tub. All five rooms enjoy cable television and wireless internet.

Come and experience the hospitality extended at The Cambridge House Bed & Breakfast, where the wholesome, friendly atmosphere feels "just like staying at Grandma's house!".
